Some of you know Kanye West because of his albums that he released.Became popular when his first album "The College Dropout" dropped.Of course,you get success when you got Jay-Z on your back.
But even before that,Mr West knew how to make an historical beat.That what got him sign to Roc-A-Fella.Making beats for the great HOVA!So no people his career didn't start here,his career started on Jay'Z's "The Blueprint".With His dope productions like :Izzo(H.O.V.A), Heart of the City (Ain't No Love) and Takeover.Three incredible tracks that started his career.
Now on to his sampling,Kanye West has a really big range of production,so that's why I decided to only talk about his albums.Starting With.
The College Dropout
I am not gonna talk about all the tracks on the album,only about the ones that are incredibly well sample.
-First one is Spaceship,sampling Marving Gaye's song Distant Lover.
.A simple sample,but are really well produce song.You can hear the chop of Kanye at the start of the song,the little one second bass,but then a chop at 12 seconds to 30 seconds.This is the part that really makes the beat Spaceship fully complete.
Second one is Jesus Walks.I never tough that beat was a sample !.I always tough Kanye had called some singers to record,but this song is really amazing.Sampling the amazing Arc Choir song Jesus Walks.The sample is sweet and simple,but drum pattern of Kanye just add the cream of the crop.
Third one is Slow Jamz.
Sampling Mr Luther Vandross song A House Is Not A Home..Putting the pitch to a highhhh level,Kanye West brought this style,now he is easily recognized by doing that,putting high pitch on his samples.
This song became an instant classic,known by everybody.
Forth song is Through The Wire.Samplig Chaka Khan's song Through The Fire.Again using the high pitch,this song is really crazy.Sampling the part at 1 minute of the song.Again easy but crazy.After for the verse he shows his chopping skills.Mixing some sample parts here and there.
First song-Everybody knows Touch The Sky,but almost 90% of people doesn't know that the bet was produced by JUST BLAZE!!!!Yes people,one of the craziest single of Kanye is NOT produce by Kanye.Just Blaze just looped Curtis Mayfield's song Move On Up,he flip it slower,but It is exactly the same,he added the same drum pattern on top,to make the beat come more to life.This beat is off the hook.
Second song is Gold Digger.He didn't actually sample the song,but he sample Jamie Foxx who played Ray Charles in the movie.The song is I Got A Woman by Ray Charles,became a song that played non-stop on the radio.Well produce but a little repetitive.
Third song is Drive Slow..One of the most relaxing song I heard and that because of the sample Wildflower by Hank Crawford.This sample is just magnificent.Sweet,slow,relaxa nt.How can you hate this song,Kanye & Paul Wall does there thing,no doubt !
Forth song is Diamonds From Siarra Leone.Taking a sweet sample talking about diamond to flip it to an political song.Mr West sampled Shirley Bassey's song Diamonds Are For Ever.
First song is Good Morning.A sweet "Ouh ouh ouh" in the background can make a beat.For this song Kanye West Sampled Elthon John's song Someone Saved My Life Tonight.Adding some the smooth drum pattern on top of the sample.Kanye west drop another smooth track.I like the way he makes his verses loop,with only one sound repeated alot.He took the part at 1 minute 42.
Second song is Champion.Sampling an smooth jazz song from Steely Dan called Kid Charlemagne.Sampling only the voice at 35 seconds,this beat is really crazy,just a bass line and a clap can make a big different,yes for the chorus Kanye uses the synth.
Third song is Stronger.A lot of people accuse Kanye of stealing because of this song.He just loop a part from Daft Punk's song Harder,Better,Faster,Stronger..This song came out really great for kanye making him sell 2,000,000 albums.Me I find Kanye's version better,It just as a cool style to it.If you didn't know Timberland helped Kanye laying the kick pattern on this song."Click For Video of Timbo Kanye"
Forth song is Good life.This song also had Kanye on top of the chart.Sampling the late deceased superstar MJ.Sampling a small second of the song P.Y.T,Kanye dropped one of the biggest single of 2007.You see this is what I call the art of sampling.If you listen to P.Y.T,the sample part is hard to find and that's what make the song Good Life unique.
Fifth song is Everything I Am.Kanye sampled a smooth piano for this one from Prince Phillip Mitchell's song If We Can't Be Lovers.This beat is relax and smooth just like the sample.Great song.
Sixth song is The Glory.Sampling as song and putting it on high pitch -a la Kanye style-
This time he sampled the singer Laura Nyro's song Save The Country.Some find this song anoying because they say he just looped t a part from the sample.But do you think it's that easy when your loop last 2 seconds.No!Kanye west is a genius for taking that sample and not messing it up.
I'm am not going to talk about song on this album for one reason.I think it sucked.You might be against me and I have no problem with that but for me it sucked.Compare The three first albums to this one and tell me if there isn't a big difference.Yes there is,the difference is the three firsts are good,the last one suck.Some people it's because he was affected by the death of his mother.OK,but ether you don't drop your album now or just make it good.Why did he have to change his style.And whoa whoa whoa whoa...don't tell me it's because of his mother,because he kept making dope beats for other rappers during that year.So don't put the album on the death of the mother.But the people of today are dumb so of course,it sold a lot !!!And why did he had to mess up the story of the bear,who went to college and graduate.The theme of his albums were solid gold,why mess up that with an album out of context.I know some of the song I didn't mention were also sampled,but ether the sample was boring or not impressive enough.For a producer I rate kanye a great 9/10.His production is on point when he want to,he doesn't just loop a sample,he has good drum patterns and he really knows how to work the synth.

808's & Heartbreak
